H-E-B Conquer the Coast Announces Partnership with Livestrong

Corpus Christi, Texas - July 13, 2016 - H-E-B Conquer the Coast, South Texas' premiere cycling event, returns for its 13th year on Saturday, September 17th, and for the first time will have a national charity to support in addition to several local charities. Officials from Conquer the Coast announced today a partnership with Livestrong.

“We’re very excited about this partnership,” said Paige Kimball, Executive Director of the Corpus Christi Chamber Foundation. “We have the opportunity to help bring Livestrong and their support network to South Texas to help people locally that are fighting cancer.”

Livestrong continues to provide direct services to cancer patients and survivors through its free, bilingual navigation program both over the phone and online, while creating access to resources across the country. In the community, the Livestrong at the YMCA program has made a return to fitness and well-being possible for more than 38,000 survivors in more than 500 YMCA locations.

“Collaborating with companies like H-E-B that are so ingrained in their local communities is a key factor in getting help to the thousands of Texans who are dealing with the emotional, practical and physical effects of a cancer diagnosis,” said Greg Lee, President of Livestrong. “Through this ride, we hope that any participants, their family members, friends or caretakers are able to access our free services and get the free cancer support they need.”

In addition to Livestrong, proceeds generated by the 13th Annual Conquer the Coast benefit the Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce Foundation, which helps develop leaders and entrepreneurs in Corpus Christi, as well as the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islander Athletic Fund and various cycling organizations throughout the Coastal Bend including Bikes for Kids.
