With a solid foundation of more than 25 years of financial management experience, Greg joined Livestrong in 2006 as its chief financial officer. He was previously the manager of finance and administration for The University of Texas Investment Management Company, a nonprofit that managed more than $21 billion in investments, and also vice president of finance and business operations for the American Heart Association. Greg brought a wealth of experience from those roles to Livestrong, understanding that financial stability and operational efficiency were crucial to Livestrong’s ability to deliver essential programs and services.

A three-time cancer survivor himself, Greg took the helm of Livestrong in 2016 as the organization’s president and chief executive officer. During his tenure, Greg fostered alliances that expanded Livestrong’s reach and influence, including a partnership to form the Livestrong Cancer Institutes of the Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin, at the direction of Livestrong’s Board of Directors. Partnerships with like-minded organizations have ensured that Livestrong’s impact extends far beyond its own boundaries, creating a unified front against cancer and improving the lives of survivors globally.

Greg is known for his dedication to the Livestrong community and never missed an opportunity to bike in a race or run alongside other survivors while being a champion for Livestrong’s mission. He embodies the survivorship mindset and was an inspiration to many during his tenure.

Greg leaves a legacy of excellence at Livestrong, and while the Board of Directors is conducting an executive search to fill this leadership role in the coming months, Suzanne Stone, former chief strategic solutions and programs officer, will serve as interim president. She is supported by a dedicated staff that continues to work on behalf of the Livestrong community and mission.

The Board of Directors, staff, partners and the entire Livestrong community express their heartfelt gratitude to Greg for his remarkable contributions and for being an unwavering advocate for cancer survivors for nearly 20 years.

Never one to sit still, even after a 42-year long career, Greg will be using his retirement to volunteer at his church, hit the greens at The University of Texas Golf Club, and most importantly spend more time with his beloved wife and two grown children. Greg’s dedication to empowering individuals affected by cancer has shaped Livestrong into a source of hope, providing crucial support and resources to those in need.
